Are your products made to order?

Yes — every item across all our product lines is made specifically for you after you place your order. We don't keep pre-made inventory. Your pillow, fabric, tapestry, or wallpaper is fresh, custom, and produced with care every time

How long does production take?

That depends on the item!

Pillows, fabric by the yard, and tapestries generally take 3-5 business days in production before shipment.

Wallpaper and tapestries may take 5–7 business days.

Wallpaper, pillows, fabric by the yard ship through a standard parcel carrier. Once these orders ship, delivery typically takes 1–5 additional business days depending on your location.

Can I order a sample or swatch first?

Yes! We offer swatches and samples for nearly everything. Fabric swatches measure approximately 5" × 5" and are printed to scale so you can see the true color, texture, and pattern size. Wallpaper samples are 8.5" × 10" and printed on the exact same material as full rolls.

While we strive for consistency, slight color variations can occur between different print batches and materials. Because each of our wallpaper materials has a unique texture, finish, and white point, the same design may appear slightly different across them. That's why, if you order a wallpaper sample, we suggest purchasing the sample in the same material you plan to order rolls in.

When ordering a fabric swatch, be sure to select the fabric that matches the finished product you're considering. The same design can look and feel different from one fabric base to another due to differences in weave, texture, and how the fabric takes the ink.

Our finished products use specific fabrics: pillows are made with our Linen Blend. Fabric by the yard is available in Soft Cotton, Canvas Cotton, Linen Blend, and Upholstery Linen Blend.

For example, if you're considering a pillow, we recommend ordering the design on Linen Blend. A Soft Cotton swatch will show you the design, but it won't be an accurate representation of how the color, texture, and print will appear on the finished product. The same goes for wallpaper. A sample in peel&stick paper will not be the most accurate representation of how an install in the traditional paper will look.

Will colors look the same across different products?

Not exactly — and that's completely normal. Different materials absorb ink differently, so a design on a linen-blend pillow may appear slightly different than that same design on wallpaper or another fabric. This is a natural characteristic of how printing works across materials, not a defect.

Can I cancel or change my order?

That depends on what you ordered!

If you placed an order for wallpaper or a mural, we're able to make changes within 24 hours of placing your order! Whether it’s adjusting your wallpaper choice or adding something new, just reach out to us at info@paintedpaper.com as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to catch it before it gets started. After 24 hours, your order is already in production, so we can’t make product changes—but you’re still welcome to update contact info or your shipping address up until the order ships.

Please note: sample orders are typically processed and sent to production very quickly to ensure fast delivery. Because of this, sample orders cannot usually be changed or canceled once placed.

For orders of tapestries, fabric by the yard, and throw pillows, once an order is placed, we’re unable to make changes or cancellations to the items in the order. If you’d like to purchase additional products, we recommend placing a separate order. However, if you need to update your shipping address or contact information before your order ships, please contact our customer service team right away. We’ll do our best to help.

How do I measure my wall for wallpaper?

Before you dive in to any wallpapering project, it's important to be sure you measure your walls accurately. Getting those measurements right ensures a perfect fit. What type of wallpaper material do you offer?

We've got you covered with three options: traditional, pre-pasted, and premium peel and stick. Our most popular designs are also available in a faux grasscloth.

Our traditional wallpaper requires separate wallpaper paste for installation, while our pre-pasted wallpaper simply needs a little water to activate the paste. Our Faux grasscloth is a Type II vinyl, and installs just like a traditional wallpaper.

And for those who want convenience and style, our premium peel and stick option is the way to go! All our wallpapers are proudly made in the USA, PVC Free, eco-friendly, and super durable. Learn more about our wallpaper types here!

Can I order a sample before making a purchase?

You absolutely can! Each of our wallpaper designs have a 8.5" x 10" sample size option available for $9. Here's a link to everything you should know about our samples.

We do not currently offer samples for our tapestries.

Is the wallpaper easy to install?

Yes, our wallpaper is easy to install! Whether you're a seasoned DIY-er or a novice, you'll find that applying wallpaper can be a breeze. With a few simple steps and the right tools, you can transform any room in your home. Need more guidance? Can I install the wallpaper in a bathroom or kitchen?

Absolutely! All our wallpaper types are wet strength papers, which means they are water resistant and can be safely installed in areas with low moisture. For high moisture environments, like full baths, we recommend going with our pre-pasted, traditional, or faux grasscloth papers, rather than the peel&stick.

Do you offer custom sizing?

At this time, we do not offer custom sizing for our products. For wallpaper, we just sell rolls in two different sizes: 24"W x 13'L and 24"W x 27'L. Reach out to our team at info@paintedpaper.com for an estimate on how many rolls to go with for your specific space!

How do I clean and maintain the wallpaper?

All of our papers are durable and can be simply wiped down with a mild soap and water!

What is the wallpaper visualizer and how does it work?

Our wallpaper visualizer gives you the ability to preview a wallpaper on your walls right from your browser.

To access the visualizer, click the "See it in my room" button found under the "Add to cart" button on the product's page. Upon the launch of the visualizer, you'll be prompted to upload a photo of your room, and we'll generate a virtual preview of how the wallpaper will look.

Can I remove the wallpaper without damaging the wall?

You can absolutely remove our peel and stick wallpaper! To ensure the best removal results, we recommend making sure your walls are clean, dry, and in good condition. Wallpaper loves painted surfaces, or walls primed with wallpaper specific primer. Paint and primer with eggshell, semigloss, or gloss enamels work best for clean removal. Let freshly painted walls cure for at least 30 days before applying. Please note: we do not recommend installing wallpaper on raw or unfinished drywall.

Wallpaper works best over smooth or lightly textured surfaces — medium to heavily textured walls may present adhesion issues.

Peel & Stick: Designed to Be Removable
Our peel & stick wallpaper is made to come off cleanly, without damaging your walls, which makes it a great option for renting and dorm rooms. That said, a smooth removal really depends on how well the paint is adhered to the wall. If the paint is older, not fully cured, or your walls weren’t clean and dry before application, there’s a higher chance of peeling paint during removal.

Our tips for a safe, clean peel:
-Make sure your wall is clean, dry, and in good condition before install
- Let any freshly painted walls cure for at least 30 days before applying
- When removing, pull slowly and gently at a 45-degree angle

Follow those steps, and you should be in good shape!

Pre-Pasted is Strippable
Pre-pasted wallpaper relies on water-activated glue, meaning it can be removed by reactivating the adhesive. Do so by using warm water or a specialized wallpaper removal solution. Once the paper is saturated, allow it to soak, peel the paper away from the wall, and clean up any leftover glue residue.

Traditional is Permanent
Traditional wallpaper, is meant to stay put—removal can be challenging and may damage the wall underneath if not done carefully.

What if my order arrives damaged or defective?

Are your wallpapers eco-friendly?

They are! With the exeption of our Type II vinyl faux grasscloth, all our wallpapers are PVC Free.

All our wallpapers are made in the USA and using certified sustainable manufacturing methods.

Do you offer installation services?

We don't currently offer installation services. We recommend searching for local installers or taking on the project as a weekend DIY using our installation instructions!

Can I use your wallpaper on textured walls?

It largely depends on the degree of texture! Our high-quality wallpaper is designed to help hide imperfections in the wall surface. Optimal adhesion is found on smooth or slightly textured surfaces such as satin or eggshell finishes.

More textured walls like orange peel may also work, but heavily textured surfaces pose a challenge for the adhesive to effectively grip.

For the absolute smoothest install, we do recommend prepping textured walls with a skim coat and wallpaper primer before installation. Highly textured walls can present adhesion challenges. We do not recommend installing wallpaper on textured walls that have not been properly prepped.

When in doubt, order a sample to test before purchasing rolls!

Are the wallpapers fire-resistant?

Yes, our wallpapers are fire-resistant. They have received a Class A fire rating, ensuring that they meet the highest safety standards. You can have peace of mind knowing that our wallpapers prioritize safety and provide an extra layer of protection for your home.

How do I avoid visible seams on my wallpaper installation?

What does pattern repeat mean?

A pattern repeat is the vertical distance between one point in a wallpaper pattern and where that same point reappears again further down the roll. This measurement is crucial when planning your wallpaper project because it helps determine how much wallpaper you’ll need to achieve a seamless design flow on your walls. Our pattern repeats can vary from every 12" to 48" - each design will have a specified pattern repeat in the product description. The pattern repeat affects both the overall look of the design and the amount of wallpaper required. When ordering wallpaper, it’s important to consider the pattern repeat to ensure you have enough material to match the design across all your walls.

Does the wallpaper come in single or double rolls?

We manufacture our wallpaper to our own unique specifications. Our 13' length roll is closest to what the industry refers to as a single roll, while our 27' length roll is our version of a double roll.

Color Variations Between Batches & Materials

While we strive for consistency, slight color variations can occur between different print batches and materials. Because each of our wallpaper materials has a unique texture and finish, the same design may appear slightly different across them. That's why, if you order a sample, we suggest purchasing the sample in the same material you plan to order rolls in.

All our wallpapers are UV printed, which helps maintain color accuracy, but small differences between prints made at different times are still possible. If you're planning to place multiple orders for the same design, we highly recommend reaching out to our team as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to ensure a consistent match across your prints!

What type of fabric are your Tapestries?

Our Tapestries are made from a 100% Natural Upholstery Linen Blend. Our Upholstery Linen Blend is composed of 85% Cotton and 15% Linen.

How do I care for my Tapestry?

Great question! Our Tapestries can be machine washed on a cold, delicate, cycle. Once washed, we recommend that you air or hang dry your Tapestry to prevent shrinkage and preserve the texture of the fabric.

Can I iron or steam my Tapestry?

Yes! You can absolutely iron out or steam any wrinkles in your Tapestry. We recommend ironing or steaming from the back side of your Tapestry to preserve the print on the front. And remember to use a warm setting for the best results!

How do I hang my Tapestry?

How big are your Tapestries without the hanger?

Great question! The dimensions listed on the product page reflect the full size of the tapestry when the hangers are attached. The fabric portion itself is slightly smaller, measuring 2 inches shorter in both height and width than the listed dimensions.

All of our fabric by the yard is available in four fabric options, each with its own unique texture, weight, and recommended use:

What size does your fabric come in?

Our fabric is sold by the yard. Each yard measures 36 inches (or 3 feet) long by 54 inches (or 4.5 feet) wide (printed width). If you order multiple yards, your fabric will arrive as one continuous piece when able, rather than being cut into separate one-yard sections. If you order more than 10 yards of fabric on one order, your order will be fulfilled in multiple cuts.

Like most fabric by the yard, there will be an unprinted selvedge edge along both sides of the fabric outside the printed area. Please note that due to the printing and manufacturing process, final dimensions may vary slightly, with up to 1 inch of positive variance.

Short answer: not exactly — but very close.

Because all of our fabrics are printed to order, slight color variation can naturally occur between print batches. Additionally, each fabric type absorbs ink differently based on its weave and composition, so the same design may appear slightly different across different materials.

These subtle shifts in color, tone, or texture are a normal part of the fabric printing process and are not considered defects. For the closest possible match, we recommend ordering all needed yardage at the same time and ordering swatches first if you're comparing different fabric types.

A pattern repeat is the vertical & horizontal distance before a design repeats again on the fabric. All of our designs have 6" or 12" pattern repeat options that can be selected on each product page.

No — our fabric is printed non-railroaded, meaning the pattern runs vertically with the roll length. For curtains, this means the pattern will flow from floor to ceiling perfectly.

No! Our fabric is single-sided, so the back of the fabric will be left unprinted.

Yes! Our fabrics are printed on natural cotton and linen-based textiles with no synthetic plastic-based materials.

Our fabrics are commonly used for pillows, drapery, upholstery, bedding, soft goods, and custom sewing projects.

For curtains or pillows we recommend our Linen Blend and Soft Cotton both are popular choices for drapery, pillows, and bedding.

Our fabric is intended for indoor use only. Our materials are not treaded with protective coatings and aren’t made to withstand outdoor conditions, so we don’t recommend using them for outdoor projects.

When it comes to drying your fabric we highly recommend line drying to help preserve the natural fibers and texture of the fabric.

We also recommend when ironing or steaming, to do so on the reverse side using a warm setting.
